However, for some reason some people are outright obsessed in calling one die "dice". Even when they know that the correct word is "die", they still insist that "dice" should be the correct spelling and pronunciation.
Saying "one dice" is exactly as wrong as saying "one mice", or "one teeth", or "one children". But they insist that "one dice" should be correct. I don't really understand why.

When I was a kid in NZ the singular was dice. I didn’t hear the word die used as the singular until I was maybe in my 20s. Perhaps it is a regional difference.
