I shouldn't even have to remind that Abraham Lincoln was the President of the United States that not only fought for the constitutional amendments that abolished slavery in the United States to pass and gave citizenship to all former slaves, but who moreover fought the deadliest war in the United States history to end slavery. He spoke and rallied against slavery many, many times during his career, before and after becoming President, and fought tooth and nail to abolish it and make it illegal, and to free the slaves. If there's one thing that the regressive leftist social justice ideology loves, it's to take existing words with very negative connotations, and change their meaning and start using these words with this new meaning, while still carrying (and taking advantage of) the original negative connotations.
