The hypocrisy of the American press when it comes to the President

During Donald Trump's presidency, almost the entire 4 years of it, the leftist American mainstream media was constantly, constantly, picking on every single thing that Trump said or did (that they couldn't just use to declare him a racist or a dictator), no matter how normal or innocuous, and tried to claim that he was not mentally capable and competent to be the president. It probably cannot be even counted how many times the mainstream media mentioned the 25th Amendment (the one about the president becoming unable to do his job). Heck, several times news outlets like CNN brought some random psychologist to argue how Trump was psychologically incompetent to be the president (even though this kind of public declaration is in direct violation of the ethics of psychology in the United States, ie. it's absolutely unethical for a licensed psychologist to make public declarations about someone's mental health without having treated the person and without the person's permission to do so.) The media would pick on the most innocuous things that Trump said or did, and question his competence. If Trump did anything that even resembled some kind of age-related weakness, they considered it a jackpot, like the one time that Trump walked a slightly downwards ramp with extra caution.

Given how concerned the American mainstream media seems to be about the President's health and ability to perform his duties, surely they are continuing the same trend with Joe Biden?

Hah! What do you think?

It's no exaggeration to say that Biden is quite clearly showing symptoms of dementia caused by his old age. He is clearly being kept from the public eye by his staff as much as possible. It's my understanding that he is the President of the United States with the least amount of public appearances, speeches and press conferences by this point in his presidency, and by a quite large margin.

The few times that he has made a public appearance, he barely manages to get through it without fumbling his words or forgetting what he was saying, even when directly reading from a teleprompter! Recently he gave a press conference (one of the very few ones he has ever been in during his presidency), and several times during it he forgot what he was saying, or lost his train of thought and started going into incoherent ramblings. Often he would start an answer quite coherently and to-the-point, but then suddenly his eyes would glaze over, his speech would become hesitant, and he would start some incoherent sidetrack that had little to do with what he was answering. He was constantly reading directly from a notebook, word for word, when giving scripted answers (something that many political commentators on the conservative side have said they have never seen a president do).

It's quite clear that Biden, without exaggeration, seems to be a good candidate for applying the 25th Amendment. He is not mentally competent to be the President of the United States, to perform his duty. He is clearly senile, and his staff clearly knows it. They keep him out of the public eye as much as possible, he rarely if ever has any phone conversations with the heads of state of other countries (the vice-president doing this job for the most part), and so on.

Does the leftist mainstream media acknowledge this?

What do you think? Of course not. When they are not just outright ignoring and hiding all these gaffes, they are making excuse after excuse, defending him.

Perhaps the most hilarious string of excuses and mental gymnastics to defend him was when he stumbled three times while boarding the Air Force One, falling over the third time. According to the press, not a sign that he is becoming old and incompetent. The exact same press that declared so for Trump, when he walked a downwards ramp cautiously.
