"Love bombing" in youtube video comments

I commented in a past blog post the behavioral phenomenon I have noticed in the comment sections of many SJW videos, as well as on social media posts of SJWs, which is quite different from the average behavior in anti-SJW and other skeptic videos.

This behavior, which stands out in drastic contrast to the opposition, is the sheer amount of so-called "love bombing", or what could be much more crassly expressed as "dick sucking". In other words, a quite significant portion (often even the majority) of the comments are nothing but adulation and people thanking the person, and encouraging the person for doing this and to keep doing it. And nothing else. That's it. It's often message after message after message of almost nothing but people metaphorically sucking that person's metaphorical dick, with zero contribution to anything. No discussion, no additional further thoughts and points of view, no dissecting what the person is saying (either favorably or unfaborably), and rather obviously absolutely no criticism of any kind. In other words, nothing but adulation, with no contribution.

You quite rarely see this behavior in skeptic videos (be they political skepticism or scientific skepticism). If you dig really deep you might find a few comments from people doing nothing other than thanking the person and adulating him, but form my experience (and believe me I have seen a lot of skeptic videos) it's extraordinarily rare.

(Of course this doesn't mean that all comments in skeptic videos are intelligent, rational and reasonable. There's always stupid people on all sides. It's just that even when the comments are not the smartest possible, they still extremely rarely consist of sucking the dick of the author. Of course even then, the ratio of intelligent comments to stupid comments tends to be orders of magnitude larger than with SJW videos.)

This is what's usually called "love bombing", and is one of the tactics used by cults. It strokes the ego of people who do something to advance or support the cult's position and work, makes them feel good, and tries to ensure that they remain in the cult and never start doubting.

Rather obviously, SJW videos are not the only ones where this behavior is seen. Believe it or not, some flat-earthers have a relatively significant following, and unsurprisingly their videos are rife with this kind of dick sucking.

For example, this is a screenshot collection of some comments from the first one hundred or so comments from one single flat-earther video (click the picture for a larger version):

Well over half of the comments were like this, and they went on and on and on. At some point I just stopped taking screenshots, or else this picture would have been humongous.

The rest of the comments weren't much better than this, contributing very little or saying anything intelligent.
