The so-called "Jim Crow laws" were one of the darkest moments in the history of the United States (only surpassed by the era of slavery, until it was abolished). These were laws that were in place from the end of the 19th century to the mid-20th century, which established strict racial segregation in many states: Racially segregated schools, segregated institutions, segregated public transport, segregated universities and colleges, even segregated water fountains and benches. (For some reason the water fountains in particular became a symbol of the "Jim Crow laws".)
These laws were abolished and relegated to the annals of dark history for good during the 1950's and particularly 1960's, with the civil rights movement and the passing of new laws that outright forbid racial segregation. A perfect example of actual genuine "social justice" and "progress" for the betterment of not just the United States but indirectly also the entire world, by leading example.
For 50 or so years racial segregation remained unthinkable, and anybody who even hinted at supporting it or, heaven forbid, re-establishing it was considered a horrible human being.
Yet, incredibly, modern United States has gone right back to the era of Jim Crow laws and racial segregation. And not by "right-wing" Republican conservatives. By leftist Democrats!
Which, I suppose, is kind of fitting given that it was actually the Democratic Party that established the Jim Crow laws in the first place. They are only returning to their roots. Re-establishing what they once established and supported, and were dragged kicking and screaming out of. I suppose they were not slapped hard enough out of it, and are now returning to their old ways.
Indeed, many colleges and universities in the United States, which are run and dominated by far-leftist Democrats, have strictly racially segregated dormitories and other facilities, and strictly racially segregated graduation ceremonies: White people and colored people... eh, people of color, same difference, have strictly segregated facilities and graduation ceremonies, once again.
It's incredible, but it's indeed happening.
It's time to drag the Democrats out of their old habits kicking and screaming once again. Slap it out of them, hard. It's time to really hammer in that racial segregation is horrible and unacceptable. They might have gotten away with it a hundred years ago, but it's not acceptable today.
If this is not done, they are likely to eventually go even further back in time and re-establish slavery. (Indeed, it was precisely the Democratic Party that heavily opposed the abolition of slavery and the constitutional amendments declaring so. These Amendments were proposed by the Republican Party. They had to fight a long and devastating civil war in order to get it passed and force the Democrats out of supporting slavery.)
You think I'm kidding, exaggerating, or delusional? Well, we'll see. A mere 20 years ago you would have thought that I was delusional if I had claimed that racial segregation will be back in full force very soon. Yet, here we are.
