Ironically, it wasn't even so many years ago that East Asians were clumped by the regressive left among all the other "oppressed minorities", and thus given special privileges, protections, and special treatment by the regressive left.
This has been changing rapidly. I suppose the critics pointing out that East Asians are actually some of the most "privileged" citizens has sunk in. After all, they have the highest average SAT scores (and by quite a margin), the highest average household income, the highest employment rates, the highest average salaries, and overall they are the ethnic group that is the most successful on average, using basically any measurement of success you want to use. (Studiousness and a culture of hard work does pay.)
The SJWs have taken notice. Many institutions, like high schools, and especially colleges and universities, have taken notice. And to remedy this "problem", they are starting in increasing manner to discriminate against these people based on their race.
It has, in fact, become so bad that these people have started to lie about their ethnicity in forms that ask for it (never mind how racist it is to ask for someone's ethnicity in anything). Curiously, and quite ironically, in many cases East Asians will be less discriminated against by these institutions if they claim being white. They will be more easily admitted, less hurdles will be put into their path, and they will experience less discrimination... if they claim to be Caucasian instead of Asian. By the very institutions who are supposedly against racism. Now let that sink in.

SJW ideology has no need for logically consistent. Elisabeth Warren claimed she is American Indian to get privilege points, this was common for feminist to do in the 80’s, it’s cultural appropriation of the worst kind. It was objected too and strongly disliked by real American Indians but there was little they could do about it, there was no easy way to disprove the claims. SJW’s will just ignore their own dogma of cultural apportion and the same with DNA test results.

The key psychological hack is to hijack the maternal mother child relationship, redirecting it to lunatic political causes. The narrative SJW’s are imposing: My primal unconscious urges justify my actions and it’s unlawful to question any assumed privilege or feeling I have. The goal of this is the abdication of responsibility, the tool is guilt and shame manipulation, the method is destroying the reputation of conscientious men or women who take responsibility and tell the truth.
