When Trump was elected President of the United States, the vast majority of the American mainstream media, which happens to be far-leftist, engaged in a literal non-stop smearing campaign against him. Every single day, without fail, for the entirety of the 4 years of presidency, plus months and months afterwards. Most of the major mainstream media pundits (CNN and MSNBC on the forefront) did not miss a single day of the entire presidency without spending literally hours on a massive smearing campaign.
Among the literally hundreds and hundreds of things they came up with in order to attack him, one particularly childish and ridiculous tactics they used was to try to put his mental abilities into question (in the desperate hope that he would be removed from office because of being too mentally incompetent).
And they tried to cling to every little thing they could. In one video clip Trump was drinking from a water bottle, and according to them the way he was doing it was somehow indicative of mental impairment. In another clip he was walking down a ramp, and once again they tried for hours to claim that the way he walked was indicative of impairment. And so on and so forth. In one particularly infamous segment they brought up a psychologist to evaluate Trump's mental abilities, live on TV (even though doing this without the consent of the person being evaluated is highly against the written ethics of psychology in the United States.)
But now, quite unsurprisingly, when Biden is making gaffe after gaffe after gaffe, showing quite clear signs of old age onset dementia, or at least some form of cognitive impairment (here's a video of some of his gaffes), the same mainstream media pundits who clung to every single minor thing about Trump's behavior trying to claim that he's impaired, are completely ignoring these gaffes. And when they are so blatant that they can't ignore them, they come up with excuses.
If Trump had said any of the same things that Biden is constantly saying, wrong numbers, wrong place names, wrong people's names, wrong dates, wrong events, slurring his words, forgetting mid-sentence what he was saying... you can just imagine how fiercely the leftist media would have grasped at it and attacked Trump for weeks.
The political bias in American media is just astonishing. The leftist press in the country is a completely willing lapdog of the left-wing establishment.
