What happened to LegalEagle?

I wrote a blog post on June of last year about how I used to quite avidly follow the YouTube channel of a lawyer who uses the nickname LegalEagle, because many of his videos very extremely entertaining and didactic at the same time (I learned quite a lot of interesting tidbits about legal practice from those videos) when, all of a sudden, out of the complete blue, he just decided to go full-on far-leftist social justice ideologue. (He might have been very sympathetic to the ideology for years, but up to that point he had, to my knowledge, always left it out of his videos and stayed off of that topic.)

On 8th of June of 2019 he uploaded a video about a particular deleted scene in the Captain Marvel movie where the titular hero outright steals the motorbike of a dude who was being a bit of an asshole towards her. Not only did LegalEagle defend her actions, but moreover he proceeded to accuse people (ie. men) who criticize that scene of "mansplaining" and sexism. At no point did he make any mention or acknowledgement that stealing the bike was illegal, a crime, and disproportionate retribution for the guy just being a douchebag (even though he has made several other videos titled "crimes committed in (such and such movie)".)

But hey... that's just one video. Who cares? Maybe it was just a temporary lapse of judgement. Maybe he just needed to vent a bit, for the duration of one single video, and that's it? Now that he got it out of his system, perhaps he just returned to his old style of just making interesting commentaries of movies and other similar things, which are completely apolitical and unrelated to current politics? Maybe I judged too eagerly?

Nope.

Apparently he contracted Trump Derangement Syndrome about a year ago, and since then it seems that he can barely talk about anything else, and his channel has pretty much become an anti-Trump propaganda channel, which has only got worse and worse over the months.

From the 40 videos he has uploaded over the last six months, 25 are about Donald Trump or current political topics closely related to him.

Prior to about a year ago he had remained quite politically neutral. He had made a couple of videos about Trump back then, but they were quite neutral in tone. For example in October of 2018 he made a video about Stephanie Clifford suing President Trump for defamation, and why she had to pay Trump's attorney feels. He remained quite apolitical in the video, simply explaining the legal reason for it, and in fact he even expressed an opinion where he sided with the judge who had made that ruling.

You wouldn't believe that from his latest video (uploaded on October 24th) which is nothing but 10 minutes of pure anti-Trump propaganda, repeating all the same narratives that the leftist mainstream media has been repeating for the last 4 years non-stop.

And, of course, 99.9% of the comments in the comment section are supportive, and about half of them are nothing but "thank you for doing this" reinforcement dick sucking.

I unsubscribed and stopped following the channel on that fateful day on June of 2019. It seems I made the right choice. If I hadn't done it back then, I would have done it quite soon after his TDS flourished.
