I have written about this before, but it's just something that boggles the mind.
It's also a bit surprising. It's not surprising that the leftist started the rhetoric. What's more surprising is how many people just believe it wholesale without question, without skepticism, without thinking about it, without doing any kind of research.
Before Donald Trump became the presidential candidate for the Republican Party for the first time sometime in 2015, he was widely considered just a somewhat eccentric, a bit quirky and maybe a bit silly multi-billionaire. He had starred in some reality TV show, and made guest appearances in others, as well as some movies and, if I remember correctly, even the WWE at one point.
As far as I know, nobody considered him somehow particularly evil, or racist, or anything like that. He was not known for that kind of thing. He was just like most other billionaires like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Jeff Bezos, Steve Ballmer (perhaps even the closest match!), and so on. Just one of those megarich billionaires, perhaps slightly quirkier than most of the others, but mostly harmless.
There was no history of "racism", or any indication that he was somehow a "dictator" or anything like that. Not any more than any of those other billionaires.
In fact, when some time in 2015 the first rumors started that he might be running for president, most leftists were laughing at him and making jokes at his expense. For example, and quite hilariously, the TV host John Oliver, from the late night talk show Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, made several segments taunting Trump, daring him to actually run for president, and even promising that if he run, he would contribute to his campaign, just to see him fail miserably and laughably. Like so many others, John Oliver considered Trump to be too silly and too ridiculous of person to actually run for president, and he clearly thought that if he actually did, it would be an absolute disaster of epic proportions. He would essentially be laughed out of the room and nobody would vote for him.
At that point nobody was making any of the nasty accusations. Nobody was calling him a racist, or a dictator, or Hitler, or a fascist, or anything like that. They were just laughing at him, not calling him nasty names.
That's because, quite clearly, Trump didn't have any history of that. He wasn't known for anything like that.
Then, everything changed almost overnight: Once it became clear that him running for president was not just some kind of silly rumor and joke, and that he was actually the primary candidate, suddenly everything changed.
Suddenly, for some strange reason, the entirety of the American far-leftist establishment and propaganda machine started an absolutely massive smearing campaign against Trump. So massive that it's probably unprecedented in the history of humanity. The sheer scale, amount, nature and duration of the smearing campaign is likely something that has never happened before.
I have no idea who got the idea of starting that smearing campaign, but it worked wonders: Suddenly 99% of the leftist mainstream media, politicians, political commentators and influencers were defaming him 24/7, non-stop, throwing incredible accusations at him, based literally on nothing.
Indeed, pretty much none of this massive anti-Trump propaganda campaign ever presented any evidence. They were not playing video clips of him being racist, or reading out loud things he had written or said, or recounting testimonies of people who had suffered at his hands. No, they just started throwing claims at him with pretty much zero evidence, trying to make it true via sheer repetition.
And the scary thing is that it worked amazingly well: Almost nobody who believed the propaganda stopped to thing "hmm... wait a moment, what are all these accusations based on? What exactly has he said or done?"
And it even worked internationally. In most of the world people just believed the propaganda wholesale, with zero evidence. I have met several people here who were badmouthing Trump, and when I asked them what exactly he has done, they couldn't answer. They just knew that Trump is a horrible person, even though they couldn't name a single example or present any evidence. And, sadly, even when encountering the complete inability to present any evidence, they didn't change their minds. The propaganda was that strong.
It's just astonishing. The American leftist propaganda machine just decided on a whim, based on absolutely nothing, to vilify Trump, and engaged in the biggest defamatory propaganda campaign in history, and it just worked. Based on absolutely nothing.
I don't know where you get your information....but you have NO idea what you are talking about....and obviously you have paid little or no attention to what Trump has said or done
ReplyDeleteGreat refutation. Like always, claims, claims, claims, zero evidence.
