The YouTube channel Don't Walk, Run! Productions recently (as of writing this) published a video where the author comments on a socialist recruitment webinar, where a socialist activist tries to explain and exalt the virtues of socialism, to try to convince people and recruit them to that political ideology.
Ironically, that speech is so scary that it made my anti-socialist convictions even stronger than ever before. Not that I needed any convincing that socialism is a very, very bad idea, but that speech made that fact even clearer and stronger.
Consider what she says that the goals of her political party are in the United States:
* Violent revolution. While she doesn't say it directly outright, she very clearly implies that the democratic voting process is not good enough and the only way to establish the American Socialist Utopia is to bypass it and engage in violent revolution, whether the majority of people want it or not. She speaks in lengths about this revolution, with clear implications that it needs to be more than just mere words and rhetoric.
Which very directly and explicitly in her spiel leads to:
* Sedition. A literal coup d'etat that overthrows the existing government by force and replaces it with the socialist revolutionaries. All existing members of parliament will be thrown out and replaced.
And even more obnoxiously and jaw-droppingly:
* Racially segregated replacement and stacking of the senate with unelected people, bypassing the democratic process. That's right: No white people in the senate (the highest legislative branch of the government). All members elected by organizations with vested interests, not by the people.
* The complete annulment of the United States Constitution. I'm not even making that up. They want it to be replaced with their own socialism-approved version.
* Becoming rich will be explicitly illegal. You will not be allowed to become rich.
This is very much in style of the former USSR, where that was indeed the case. A lot of people from the former Soviet states will tell the same thing: If anybody had become an independent entrepreneur and was gaining more money than his government-approved allowance, and the authorities got word of it (which they usually got because of citizen informants who were all to happy to rat each other out), the militaristic police forces would confiscate and destroy all the tools and whatever that person was using for his craft, and often take him to prison (or even worse).
(So yes, if for example someone was a musician and was being hired to play and sing in parties and other events, and he was getting extra money for it, and the authorities noticed, they would go and destroy all of his musical instruments, and possibly take him to jail. He would not be allowed to gain any extra money. This happened all the time in the Soviet states.)
And mind you: All of this will be forced on the citizens whether they want it or not. By force. Which is the core feature of Communism. You will be subjugated to the Communist rule whether you want it or not, and you will have no say in it.
And this is supposed to convince me to support socialism?
How about no?
