Representative democracy is, by far, the best form of government that humanity has ever developed. While it may in a few cases fail to do so, in general it ensures that tyranny, dictatorships, oligarchies and oppressive regimes do not get in power, and that the rights and freedoms of people are maintained. The very concept of representative democracy, something that's clearly stated and enshrined into the Constitutions of many such countries, is that the government belongs to the people. While they are represented by a handful of elected representatives, ultimately the "ownership" and control of the government is in the hand of the people, who can choose by fair elections who will represent them in said government. If the current government is not doing what's best for the people and is becoming tyrannical and oppressive, the people can simply vote them out of the government at the next elections. (In general, at the most fundamental level, this system is enforced and kept in check by the law enforcement and military forces of the country: A coup d'etat by some oppressive party would be stopped by those forces.)
However, democracy is not absolutely untouchable nor can it absolutely protect the people from the raise of a tyrannical oppressive regime. There are actually several examples of this, mostly in central and south America, and some African countries, but perhaps the most prominent and notable example of exactly this was, of course, the Nazi regime in Germany: After all, they were elected into power via the democratic process. They did not seize power via a coup.
So yes, as good as representative democracy is, it's not infallible, nor is it absolutely immune from a takeover by a totalitarian regime set on seizing control and establishing tyranny.
The difference between such events, however, is how "stealthy" that hostile takeover is, for a lack of a better term.
The raise of the Nazi regime was anything but stealthy. Once they gained majority power via the electoral process, they seized total control very quickly, very aggressively and very visibly. It was completely clear to everybody (even to most German citizens) what was happening, and that democracy was effectively over in the country.
What has been happening in the United Kingdom has been significantly sneakier, however.
The Nazis seized power and took complete control, and effectively annulled the democratic process, in just a few months, perhaps even just a few weeks, and they did so very openly and brazenly.
In the UK, however, the process has been much slower and much stealthier. In fact, it has been going on for at least 25 years. (Indeed, for example former British police officers who have spoken out about the current situation with them policing people's speech have indicated that it's not something new. The entire "Britain is a multicultural country" brainwashing of new recruits started at least as far back as the year 2000, probably even earlier.)
Over all these years, and at an ever accelerating rate, especially after Brexit, the UK has become more and more tyrannical, policing people's speech and engaging in a self-inflicted invasion by foreign forces, which has caused crime rates to skyrocket, while the police forces do very little to stop it.
For all intents and purposes the UK police forces have become the military police of a foreign nation that have invaded and taken over the country: Keeping the native people of the country in check and abusing them to protect the invaders. Even going so far as to ban the very flag of the country. If a native gets attacked by an invader, the military police will arrest the victim, not the perpetrator. The UK government is bringing these foreign invaders even to small towns, without asking the inhabitants whether they want it or not, and the cops will be there protecting the invaders from the natives. The invaders are pretty much free to abuse the natives and commit any crimes they want. The UK government is spending, without any exaggeration, literally millions of pounds every single day to bring and host these illegal immigrants into the country, at the expense of the citizens.
The UK government and its police forces are committing literal treason against its own people, and that's no exaggeration.
And the thing is: There's absolutely nothing that the UK citizens can do about this. Absolutely nothing.
The UK citizens have had over 10 years now to elect a new government that would stop this, but it's not working. They tried to do so with Brexit, but that didn't help. If anything, it only made things worse because now even the EU isn't stopping the UK government from abusing its own people.
The democratic process has failed in the United Kingdom. It doesn't matter what the people vote, nothing changes. The government is not being replaced and the problems aren't solved. Election after election after election, nothing changes. People are protesting, but it doesn't help. Whatever they vote, it doesn't help.
For all intents and purposes the government of the United Kingdom has become an oppressive regime that cannot be replaced via the democratic process. Voting does nothing. And it's only getting worse and worse by the year.
Thus, there are only two options left for the citizens of the United Kingdom: Either submit to the tyranny and see their own country be destroyed by its own government, or temporarily suspend the democratic process and replace the current government by force.
I see no other alternatives for the UK.
