The far-leftist ideology started invading and taking hold of universities, primarily starting in the United States, first very slowly perhaps in the 80's and 90's, but at an accelerating rate during the first decade of the 2000's, and exploding and completely taking over towards the end of that decade, to the point that by 2010 and forward most universities had been completely hijacked and taken over by far-leftist activists who completely changed how universities run and operate, and how and what they teach the students. In other words, they succeeded in making American universities indoctrination and training camps that produce far-leftist activists.
The takeover was so successful that in the vast, vast majority of American universities students were so deeply indoctrinated that they became outright militant: The students themselves would watch each other and aggressively enforce the core tenets of the ideology. Indeed, if a student were to show any dissent, would question the ideology, the response by other students would be swift and very, very aggressive. In the early 2010's this aggression was mostly non-physical (consisting of verbal harassment, passively blocking the path of the dissenters, and so on), but towards the end of that decade it became more and more physical. (Indeed, there are videos from that time that you can find from some universities where students outright "hunt" students they think are dissenters and do everything short of beating them up to a pulp.)
One of the primary goals of this indoctrination was, obviously, to take over the entire society, not just university campuses. American universities started pumping out thousands and thousands, tens of thousands, of indoctrinated brainwashed drones that started infiltrating other educational and similar institutions (thus making also those into indoctrination and training camps for activists) until they succeeded in indoctrinating hundreds of thousands, even millions of people.
And, of course, these indoctrinated brainwashed drones started to invade companies and corporations.
During the last ten or so years, these indoctrinated brainwashed drones have attempted to make companies, the working place, an extension of their university campuses: Same rules, same rules enforcement, same aggressive indoctrination, same discrimination and shunning of dissenters. And when it comes to companies that produce pieces of media, such as video games, the ideology must be inserted into that as well, obviously.
One of the main problems with this, from the point of view of a company, is that these people are not productive. The vast majority of them not only are extremely inefficient at doing their jobs, but they also make the workplace such a toxic and oppressive environment that it outright hinders the work of the competent workers. So it's a double whammy: They themselves are inefficient, and they make the competent workers less efficient.
And, indeed, the level of inefficiency of these indoctrinated activists is sometimes astonishing. There were many reports 5-10 years ago of many of these people literally going to the office for 2-3 hours, maybe reading and writing a few emails and then going home, while still billing 8-10 hours. Others (especially nowadays) might technically be at the office for the required hours, but they don't do much: They just hang around, they "socialize" with fellow activists in the company, they boss people around, they have endless "coffee breaks", if the company offers any kind of leisure activities or spaces, they hang around in those almost all day. In most cases, if they do any "work", it will be something that doesn't benefit the company (such as being members of a "diversity department"). If they actually do some development work, they tend to be extremely inefficient at it, taking weeks to do things that a competent developer would do in minutes.
A few years ago there was a mini-purge of these "leeches" in the American industry, with several big and small tech companies laying off a huge amount of them, in the tens of thousands of people in the case of some of the biggest corporations.
Quite notably, though, the gaming industry in particular seemed to be slow to react to this. I don't remember hearing such huge layoffs from that front.
However, in the last year or so even the gaming industry might be catching up, no doubt because of the numerous big-name commercial disasters that can be traced to "woke" influences in their products. Some companies, especially those headquartered in Japan (but with branches in the United States), have already started a purge of these people. Even a few of those based on America are doing something similar.
Hopefully it gets more widespread in the near future and perhaps we will finally get rid of that cancer that has infected the gaming industry.
