Many people are quite baffled at the upcoming Warner Bros / DC Entertainment movie "Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires" which, unsurprisingly, depicts the Aztecs as the good peaceful noble guys, and the European conquistadors as the evil villains set on conquering, destroying, killing and oppressing.
This is just a symptom of the modern far-leftist zeitgeist: The demonization of white people and, consequently, the sanctification of non-white people. All non-white people, regardless of anything.
The typical mental picture is like one of those animated movies where woodland creatures live in peace and harmony in nature, and then humans come and destroy and pollute their environment, take all the resources, and kill the woodland creatures and take them captive. Except in this case the "woodland creatures" are of course all non-white people and the "humans" are white people. And this isn't even an exaggeration, as the majority of modern far-leftists genuinely believe that's essentially the history of the world.
Thus it's no surprise that they would consider the Aztecs just like the "woodland creatures" in those animated movies: Peaceful, noble, one with nature, not wanting to hurt anybody.
The actual reality is much, much uglier than that.
Take the absolutely worst depiction of white people and their evil deeds that far-leftists have ever concocted, and multiply that by a hundred. Now you have the Aztecs. And I'm not exaggerating here.
The Aztecs were everything that the far-left claims white people were, and much worse.
The Aztecs were absolutely brutal and inhumane colonizers and conquerors: They regularly attacked neighboring peoples, killed them, took them as slaves, and took their property and lands. They were absolutely brutal.
What's worse, the Aztecs engaged in human sacrifices. Massive amounts of human sacrifices, primarily of slaves but also of their own. At their heyday, even the most conservative estimates put the number of human sacrifices at over a thousand per year. Most estimates are in the tens of thousands per year.
That's right: Even the absolutely most conservative estimates have them sacrificing at least three or four people per day on average. On their holydays (which there were quite many over the year) they could literally sacrifice hundreds and hundreds of people in one single day. Accounts are that in these days particularly there would be literal mountains of human bodies at the foot of the pyramids where they committed those sacrifices. Men, women, children, even little babies.
And most often the sacrificing was done by literally ripping the heart out of a person. While he was still alive and conscious.
That is the kind of people that the upcoming Batman movie is celebrating and depicting as the "good" guys.
