American Democrats still effectively support slavery

Many non-Americans might not be fully acquainted with the political landscape of the United States, and the names of the different political parties don't necessarily ring any bells, so here's a very short summary:

The "Republican Party" of the United States are the conservatives, the so-called "right-wing" (in the American sense). It's the party of Donald Trump, George Bush, Ronald Reagan.

The "Democratic Party" of the United States are the "liberals" (in name only), the "left-wing". It's the party of Joe Biden, Barack Obama, Bill (and Hillary) Clinton.

Perhaps a bit surprisingly to many, Abraham Lincoln, one of the most famous and important presidents of the United States, and under whose administration and direct activism slavery was abolished in the country (by adding the 13th and subsequent amendments to the Constitution), was a Republican. Indeed, it was the Republican Party that ferociously advocated for and drove the abolition of slavery in the 1860's.

Also perhaps a bit surprisingly to many, the Democratic Party heavily opposed the amendment and the abolition.

The Democratic Party didn't change overnight, and instead they just continued on the same vein for quite a long time. The KKK was run by Democrats (yes, look it up). The so-called "Jim Crow laws", which established essentially apartheid in many parts of the country, were established by Democrats. These laws were later repealed by far and large by Republicans. When John F Kennedy proposed the Civil Rights Act of 1963 to congress for approval, 80% of Republican representatives voted yes, while only 61% of Democrats did so (in the Senate the bill passed with an 82% Republican yes vote and 69% Democratic yes vote.)

Modern far-leftists don't deny this (as it's way too obvious to be denied), but the current narrative is that at some point there was a "swap" between the political ideologies of the two parties. In other words, that at some point the Democratic Party became the "civil rights" party, and the Republicans became the "racial discrimination" party.

I see no evidence of this. The Democratic Party of the United States indeed flip-flops constantly on their policies depending on what's currently trendy (particularly in the past 10-15 years), but I see no such flip-flopping from the Republicans. The Republican Party is still as much anti-slavery and anti-discrimination, and for civil rights, as it has ever been (regardless of the claims of the contrary by far-leftist activists). Unsurprisingly, as staunch conservatives, the party is highly consistent with their policies and goals and doesn't easily flip-flop like the Democrats do.

The irony is that the "political swap" is untrue not just in the sense that I see no evidence of any significant changes in the Republican Party, but also in the sense that, in some ways, the Democrats haven't changed much either.

As an example, whenever the question of illegal immigrants comes up, they often give the argument of "who is going to do the menial jobs?" In other words, where are we going to get the cheap labor to do the menial jobs, if we don't have massive amounts of illegal immigrants? Some leftists, even TV celebrities, are so utterly out of touch and lack self-awareness so utterly that they will say things like "who's going to clean your toilet?" (which actually happened, and was so utterly egregious that even the other far-leftist activists in the TV show panel shuddered and quietly rebuked her for saying such a tactless thing.)

Indeed, many of these far-leftist Democrats are still thinking of foreign people imported into the country via questionable means as, for all intents and purposes, slave labor. They might not be technically speaking "owned" by anybody, nor are they technically speaking forced to do those jobs, but for all intents and purposes the fulfill the same role as slaves do: Doing the menial low-level jobs that the higher-class elites can't be bothered with and shudder with the idea of getting their hands dirty with. These Democrats are the superior elites, and the illegal immigrants are the servants doing the dirty menial jobs for them. Pretty much slavery in all but name and some technicalities.

Ultimately, the Democrats haven't really changed all that much. They aren't really opposing slavery, they just like to masquerade it a bit so that it doesn't look so obviously like slavery. They still have this "elite master" (ie. they themselves) vs. "lowly servant" (ie. the illegal immigrants) mentality, just like the slave owners. They just are completely oblivious to it.
