New York City achieves "equality" by bringing everybody down to the same level

In many states and cities in the United States there's implemented a so-called "gifted&talented program" for school students, all the way from kindergarten up, which has been in place for many decades. The intent of the program is to allow especially gifted students to learn more advanced subjects at a faster pace, ie. allow their talents to flourish, and for them to more easily achieve what they are capable of. In other words, these talented students are not confined to the pace and subjects of the average, and instead can advance more quickly in their studies, knowledge and experience by attending special classes that deal with and concentrate on more advanced studies early on.

This, of course, not only benefits the students themselves but society at large. Many of these talented people, who have been taught advanced subjects early on, will easily go to university, probably graduate with great grades, and become successful scientists, engineers, medical doctors, or a multitude of other advanced endeavors that benefit society and help it progress technologically.

There is, however, a major problem with the "gifted&talented" program in the United States. At least from the perspective of the far left. You see, the vast majority of the students in that program just so happen to be white and East Asian.

There is no discrimination of any kind happening here. Not only is such discrimination explicitly illegal (and has been since the 1960's), but it would be extremely severely frowned upon, and pretty much unthinkable, especially nowadays, and has been for decades. The tests and requirements are exactly the same for everybody, and student admissions are based purely on the results of the tests, not on who the individual student might be.

Yet, for some reason, the vast majority of students in these programs are white and East Asian.

In a normal rational and reasonable world, what would be done is try to figure out why that is. What is causing this disparity? If it turns out that there's some underlying reason why students of other races are not faring so well in these tests, could something be done to fix that reason and help these students to become better? Could it perhaps be their upbringing, the culture in their family and neighborhoods, or something similar? Could, perhaps, a change in culture make a change in this regard as well?

Recently New York City, however, had a "better" solution to this glaring "problem".

What's that solution? You might have already guessed. That's right: Just remove the "gift&talented" program entirely. Remove all those advanced classes, and force every single student to attend to the same basic classes, regardless of how much that may hinder their studies and development.

Problem solved. No more "racial discrimination" in classrooms. Just remove the chances from the gifted students to become better faster, and drag everybody down to the same level.

Who cares about these gifted geniuses? Who cares if they could be helped to become scientists and engineers who could help society advance technologically? The most important thing is hiding demographic imbalances from view. As long as we can't see demographic imbalances, they don't exist. Isn't that how it works?
