EU's environmental actions are idiotic

The EU has decided to really crack down on emissions and pollution in order to combat global warming, and very soon all member countries will have to implement restrictive rules eg. on car traffic.

I can't but shake my head about the complete idiocy of the measures being taken.

Let's not even go into the fact that countries like China, India and Australia are some of the biggest polluters in the world, and that many of the EU countries are some of the smallest polluters in the world, and that it would be much more beneficial to start with the biggest polluters rather than harass and economically ruin the small countries that have comparatively very little emissions.

No, let's stay within the EU for this one.

What's so idiotic about these measures? The fact that there are literally hundreds of coal power plants within the EU, which are being completely ignored by the EU and these restrictive measures. Nothing is being done to them.

On the contrary, and as incredible as it may sound, the amount of coal power plants and power generated by them is actually being increased, rather than decreased, eg. in countries like Germany, while at the same time reducing the amount of one of the cleanest and safest efficient energy sources that we have, ie. nuclear power plants.

So, while the EU is going to harass its member countries, even those that are the smallest polluters in the world, about car traffic and such, they are completely ignoring one of the biggest sources of emissions and pollution within the EU itself. A source of pollution so large that it completely overshadows car emissions, and by a large margin.

Not only would nuclear power be several orders of magnitude less polluting that coal power plants, but is so much more efficient that one single nuclear power plant could replace something like a dozen coal power plants. But no, we can't have that. Better keep building new coal power plants. You know, because environmentalism, and because nuclear power is so scary. All the while destroying the economy of the small countries that aren't polluting almost at all.

So the end result of all this is that the economy of most EU countries will be hurt, while the amount of emissions and pollution will only increase, rather than decrease.

This is one of the most idiotic things I have seen the EU do, and that's saying quite some.
