Why the kneeling gesture is both idiotic and genius

Some time ago some random black footballer in the United States started kneeling during the National Anthem that's played at the beginning of games, rather than standing up as is customary, as some kind of protest. This caused controversy because it was deemed disrespectful towards the National Anthem and the country (somehow this has become a thing in the United States).

Well, this guy must feel really pleased with himself now, because everybody on the left is now kneeling during the National Anthem everywhere in the United States because of all this BLM stuff. Everybody is certainly following the leader here.

The thing is, nobody can really explain what this gesture is supposed to mean. I don't think even this guy himself can explain what exactly he was trying to say with that gesture when he originally did it.

The gesture itself is quite idiotic. That's because for pretty much almost as long as humanity has existed, kneeling before someone or some people has been seen as a gesture of submission and obedience. Most particularly, subjects kneel before a king to show their loyalty and submissiveness. Perhaps the most prominent example is when people are knighted by the British king or queen, but this is by far not the only example.

I'm not aware of any culture in all of history where kneeling has been seen as some kind of defiant protest, or rejection of something, or a statement against something, or a gesture that sends a message that's anything else than "I'm submissive", "I obey you", "you are my ultimate superior, well above me, I completely submit to your will and your command".

Traditionally, when a man proposes to a woman to ask her for marriage, he will often kneel in this very posture that these people are using. Again, this is, rather obviously, not any sort of gesture of protest, disagreement or rejection of something. Essentially, it's a sign of begging, if we put it bluntly. It's saying "please, will you do the lowly me the honor of becoming my wife? I do not deserve you, but if you would be so gracious of doing this me this honor, I would be the happiest and most grateful man in the world. I am at your mercy." (When saying it like that it might sound a bit negative, like the man is a complete doormat, but essentially the traditional proposal is like this, albeit it's not seen with such negative connotation.)

Do you know what does send that message in many cultures? Turning your back to the people you are protesting. In many cultures and societies when you completely reject and shun someone or some people, you almost ritually turn your back to them.

Thus, kneeling as a form of protest is extremely idiotic. But, at the same time, it's also genius. Why?

Precisely because it's a gesture of submission. It's making all these leftist, knowingly or unwittingly, express their full submission to extreme leftism. It's making millions of leftists, all the way up to the top government officials, completely submit to the ideology. It's essentially sending the message "we fully submit to your cause, we are just mere vassals and servants of the cause, we will do whatever you demand us to do, we are your slaves."

Do you know the adage "I'd rather die on my feet than live on my knees"? Well, all these leftists are choosing the latter! That's just really ingenious from the social justice ideology side. It's making people submissive and removing all defiance and individualism from them. They have become all servants and slaves to the ideology.

That's why it's genius. And all of it started by the idiotic gesture of one man. In a perverse way, I have to admire that.
