The FBI some time ago officially declared the so-called "sovereign citizen" movement a terrorist organization. This is based on about a dozen or so incidents where "sovereign citizens" engaged in a deathly shootout with police officers that have happened during the last 30-or-so years (these shootouts very directly, clearly and unambiguously having been motivated by their belief system.)
Note that there are thousands, perhaps even tens of thousands of people in the United States who subscribe to the sovereign citizen conspiracy theory and belief system. Compared to the number of believers, the amount of deadly altercations caused by the belief system is abysmally low. Probably less than 0.1% of all the sovereign citizen believers have ever engaged in a violent altercation with anybody, much less the police.
Yet, those dozen-or-so incidents still have justified the FBI to declare the entire movement as a terrorist one.
Now compare and contrast that to the far-leftist ideology in the United States. In some ways it has some similarities, such as for example believing the the current democratically elected head of state is not legitimate, and that the government is secretly abusing people (particularly minorities and illegal immigrants).
Most prominently, however, the far left by far and large believes that political violence is acceptable. Several polls have shown that over 70% of leftists in the United States are in full agreement that political violence against their opposition is acceptable.
That's a staggering figure, particularly compared to the less than 0.1% of so-called "sovereign citizens" who believe so.
And that's not merely just an opinion that has no consequences in real life. It most definitely has. The far left in the United States has been engaging in political violence for over 15 years now, constantly, non-stop. This includes rioting, vandalism, destruction of property, arson, looting, disrupting traffic, insurrection against law enforcement and government officials, and harassment and even assault of political opponents.
Merely the property damage alone, caused by these far-leftist protests during the last 15 years, is estimated in the several billions of dollars. Property damage that nobody is paying for, and is out of either the property owners' pocket (if private property) or the taxpayer (if public property).
On top of that there are the harassment, assault, battery, assassination attempts and outright assassination of political opponents. There are literally hundreds and hundreds of examples of these. Many of these assaults have resulted in injury, and sometimes even death.
And, most crucially, these are not caused by some extreme minority fringe groups that the majority of the far-leftists disown and reject. No, the vast majority of far-leftists celebrate and promote these acts of violence, openly supporting them and showing jubilation when it happens.
American leftism is a bona fide terrorist ideology and movement. There's no way around it.
Now consider that the so-called "sovereign citizen" movement has been officially declared a terrorist organization even though it has only caused a dozen or so acts of violence and only minimal property damage for political purposes. And this even though the vast, vast majority of "sovereign citizens" reject and oppose that violence.
In contrast, American leftism is not considered a terrorist organization even though it has caused several billions of dollars of property damage, and countless acts of physical violence, harassment, assaults and even deaths, all for political purposes. And this even though the vast, vast majority of American leftists support and celebrate that political violence.
Isn't that curious?
