When Donald Trump announced that he was running for President of the United States some time in 2015, the political zeitgeist of the country appeared to be just right for the far left in the country, including the Democratic Party, to go absolutely bonkers and choose him as the "designated Hitler" of the time.
When you think about it, on the face of it there was absolutely no reason for that. Trump was just a random conservative businessman with no particular history of anything that would have justified the absolutely massive smearing campaign that he quickly became the target of. He had not committed any notorious crimes, or engaged in any notorious objectionable practices, nor was he in any way notorious for being a "racist" or anything like that. He was just a relatively unremarkable multi-billionaire conservative business man turned politician, not dissimilar to the hundreds and hundreds of other billionaires the world. He did not have any kind of notorious history of being a "racist" or some sort of "dictator".
The fact is that the far left just chose him out of convenience as their Public Enemy Number 1, a scapegoat, a convenient target, The Enemy to use for fear-mongering their own side. There was nothing in his past that would have deserved or justified that massive smearing campaign, it was just a campaign of convenience. The left chose him as The Enemy, and The Enemy he became, via sheer propaganda.
And the smearing propaganda campaign was just absolutely ridiculous. The far left in the United States, including the Democratic Party (and all of their presidential candidates) were predicting all kinds of insane stuff about Trump, if he were to become the President.
I kid you not, many of these leftist activists were predicting that if he became President, then the United States would literally become Nazi Germany v.2.0, with state police patrolling the streets, rounding up black people and minorities, and taking them to concentration camps. Likewise, and obviously, they predicted that he would start World War 3 by starting wars and nuking other countries, as well as many, many other similar predictions.
When he was eventually elected, many of these brainwashed leftists went into absolute panic mode. You can still find many videos that they made. Some of them were absolutely panicking and crying, saying that they were ready to commit suicide. One video in particular I remember vividly because it was made by none other than the infamous Anita Sarkeesian: In that video she was extremely somber and looked like she had been crying for hours (I'm not exaggerating), and was literally talking in a tone like she was expecting the world to end, for police forces to kick her door at any moment and take her into a concentration camp. She was literally expecting the country to become a totalitarian hellhole that made Nazi Germany look like a Jewish paradise in comparison.
Of course nothing of that happened, rather obviously. No police patrols, no rounding of black people, no concentration camps, no removal of rights, no World War 3. In fact, quite ironically, Trump was the first president since Jimmy Carter (President from 1977 to 1981) who didn't start a single war during his presidency. Also in fact, and contrary to all the predictions by the left, the country was thriving economically under his presidency, with all-time record-low unemployment rates, until the infamous pandemic hit. Trump was also quite a diplomat; among other things he started peace negotiations between North and South Korea. (It's ironic that rather than starting wars, he was trying to make sure they didn't start.)
Did the far-leftists recant their predictions? Did they admit that they were wrong (even if by using all the excuses in the book)? Of course not. At no point have I ever seen any one of these far-leftists admit that they were wrong, that Trump did not do any of the things that they predicted. For the most obvious false predictions (like starting wars) they are just ignoring it and not talking about it. For the more fuzzy predictions (like removing rights) they are just pretending that Trump did exactly that, even though he didn't.
And what do you know, now that Trump appears to be intent in running for President again, the exact same history is repeating itself: All the same accusations against him are being thrown again, all the same predictions, the whole nine yards.
Of course the difference is that now they have a lot more ammunition to throw at him. After all, the far left has had over 8 years to fabricate all kinds of made-up accusations against him, so now they are using those to their full extent.
They literally made a dictator out of thin air, are completely ignoring the fact that he didn't act in any way as a dictator during his time in office (ironically Joe Biden has acted significantly more of a dictator than Trump ever did, and that's no exaggeration), but they literally do not care.
Whether Trump will actually be elected a second time is still to be seen (as of writing this), but one thing is certain: He will be smeared using the exact same accusations as he was eight years ago. History just repeats itself.
Let's hope that history repeats itself also in having him elected. Those teary-eyed somber videos are really juicy to watch.
