Predictions for the near future, part 26: "Equality is no longer enough"

For the longest time, equality was the golden goal of a modern constitutional civilization: Everybody should be treated equally regardless of innate immutable characteristics like sex, race and so on. Laws and law enforcement must be the same for everybody, and there absolutely must not exist any kind of discrimination or preferential treatment for example in governmental services, schooling, enrollment, hiring, promotions and so on and so forth. Equal rights for everybody was the golden standard.

No longer.

While the idea has been promoted for much longer, it has been during the past ten or so years that the totalitarian far leftist ideology has pushed with extreme force the notion into western society that equality is a bad thing, and that people must not be treated equally, and that some people should receive special treatment and others should be discriminated against based on innate immutable characteristics.

For quite a while these ideas were mostly confined to the most radicalized parts of universities, academia and far-leftist rallies. However, they have succeeded incredibly well in pushing this into the mainstream.

Now we have entities like the European Central Bank directly, unambiguously and outright stating with confidence: "Equality is no longer enough."

Not only is this campaign extraordinarily cringy, but it's actually scary. Here we have one of the largest and most powerful institutions in the world outright campaigning against equality, and for discrimination, different treatment of people based on immutable innate characteristics.

A mere five years ago they wouldn't have dared to say something like "equality is no longer enough". Today they are completely unashamed of saying such a horrendous thing. It's incredible how western society has changed in just a few years.

And that easily segues to my prediction for the near future:

There is no reason to believe it will stop here. This ideology of inequality, discrimination and totalitarianism has advanced at an ever-accelerating rate during the past few years. There's absolutely no reason to believe that it will make a full stop at this point, and do nothing more. It will just keep going.

In other words, this is not going to stop here. If we have already arrived at "equality is no longer enough", it's quite easy to predict some things that will probably be on the chopping block next:

  • Freedom of speech must be severely limited, if not completely removed. They will consider it an "antiquated concept" that's more harmful than useful. This is, of course, because freedom of speech allows people to express the "wrong" opinions and to present criticism of the system. This will go beyond just saying "hate is speech is not free speech". They will outright state, directly and clearly, that free speech itself is a bad thing.
  • And with freedom of speech will go freedom of the press: We must limit what the press is allowed to write, and all "wrong" opinions must be censored and punished. (Not that they need to do much in this regard because 99% of the press is already on their side. However, they will officially make that remaining 1% illegal.)
  • Constitutions have to be amended, rewritten or completely annulled, because they guarantee equal treatment of people and forbid discrimination based on immutable innate characteristics. (Today they are trying to weasel around constitutions using rationalizations, but the time will come when they will just outright state openly and unashamedly that constitutions are "antiquated" and must be thrown in the trashcan with all the other "antiquated" ideas, like equality.)
  • "Equity officers" in all companies, corporations and institutions will become mandatory, and discrimination at workplaces will become commonplace.

You think I'm exaggerating? Just wait and see. They have gained an incredible amount of momentum during the last years. They are not going to just stop now. They will keep going.
