A couple of years ago I wrote a blog post about the inconsistency of the far-leftist social justice warrior ideology. They very vocally and ferociously defend or oppose particular things that happen to be fashionable in their ideology at any given moment. But they do not really care what those things are, nor do they care to retain any sort of consistency in their ideology. They may today ferociously defend one particular thing, and quite literally the next day defend the exact opposite position (and consider the previous position to be heinous, vile, fascist and worthy of shunning and physical assault).
The underlying driving force is whatever gives them the most power in society.
In that article I mentioned three particular examples. It wasn't even so long ago that they ferociously and furiously defended, especially in universities, "women-only spaces", spaces that are exclusive to women, "safe spaces" for them that men are not allowed to enter, because women need the feel to have at least some places where they are safe and secure from the evil men. Today that attitude has completely reversed, and if you claim that there should be spaces where only women can enter (such as locker rooms and public bathrooms) you will be attacked and even physically assaulted.
Likewise for quite a long time they ferociously defended the idea that "homosexuality is not a choice", and that anybody who claims otherwise is a horrible monster. Today, however, they are preaching pretty much the exact opposite: Your sexuality, your sexual preferences, your sexual orientation is completely fluid and can change from one day to the next, heck from one minute to the next. If you say you are homosexual today they you are homosexual, and if you say the next day that you are heterosexual, then you are heterosexual. Your word is law, and it's fully your choice. And anybody who says otherwise is a monster.
For even longer they claimed that "race" does not exist, and only racists think that it does, and only racist even refer to people by their "race", talk about people's "race", and classify people into "races". The whole concept, the whole idea of there existing human "races" is not only completely false but also in itself racist. You weren't even allowed to talk about races because if you did, you were deemed a racist, because only racists talk about race, something that does not exist. And heaven forbid you treat people differently based on race! That makes you an uber-racist! Today, the far-leftist social justice warriors do not talk about anything else than race. They love nothing more than subdividing people into races and treating people differently based on which race they belong to. The first and foremost thing they see in people is their race. When they see a group of people (such as, for example, a national football team), pretty much the only thing they pay attention to is their race.
The last two examples are more or less harmless in themselves. The first example, however, is anything but harmless. And it has directly led to a fourth example that's absolutely horrifying.
You see, at the height of the social justice ideology takeover of all universities about 10 years or so ago, the far-leftists considered rape to be pretty much the most horrible crime against humanity that existed. There were several very high-profile cases of some female university student accusing some guy, or even a fraternity, of having raped her, and far-leftist activists having an absolute meltdown about it. Absolutely enormous protests that went on for weeks and even months on end, witch hunts, vandalized and destroyed fraternity club houses, and even entire length articles being written in very high-profile magazines and newspapers. (The most horrifying of these cases were the ones where it turned out to be a completely false accusation.)
There was this widespread notion that rape is extremely common, especially in universities (even though in actuality rape was, even back then, over an order of magnitude less common in universities than in the surrounding population), and that it was very commonly ignored, hidden, or excused, and that authorities not only ignored the rape accusations, but even when they couldn't completely ignore it they tended to downplay it and not take it seriously, or even hide it. Back then this was considered one of the worst crimes against humanity, and caused many violent protests that went on for weeks and months on end.
Well, fast-forward to today, and what do you know... school authorities are ignoring and hiding cases of students raping other students... and the far-leftists do not protest it and are all hush-hush about it. They do not talk about it, they don't protest it, they don't oppose it.
Although most of these cases are happening in high schools rather than universities, it's still very relevant: There have been several cases of male students entering the girls' bathroom and harassing, accosting, touching inappropriately, and sometimes even full-on raping girls. In at least one case a teacher entered the girls' bathroom while such a full-on rape was going on, she saw what was going on, and did nothing. She did not stop it, she did not report it. In some of these high schools reports of female students being sexually harassed and even raped by boys have been repeatedly ignored.
In one infamous case a girl's father went to a school board meeting to speak out his mind about his daughter being raped in the school and the school staff doing nothing about it, and it was him who was arrested by the police. The father. For simply speaking about and protesting it.
So here we have it: Male students raping female students, and the school staff ignoring it, not reporting it, and outright hiding it.
And where are the far-leftist social justice warriors protesting this?
Nowhere. Crickets.
How fickle is the social justice warrior mind. Sometimes this complete reversal is relatively harmless. Sometimes it's absolutely horrifying and psychotic.
