A British man in his 50's is at an airport with his wife waiting for their flight to go on vacation, when a whopping six armed police officers show up to arrest him.
Was he suspected of some kind of heinous crime? Robbing a store with a knife? Assaulting someone? Beating up people with a baseball bat? Threatening to kill someone or plant a bomb somewhere?
Nope. They were there because of a Facebook post he had made.
So surely that post must have been something very serious, like threatening to hijack or bomb the plane, or threatening to kill someone, or something like that?
Nope. The cops were suspecting that the Facebook post was "racist" and "offensive to someone". And the kicker is that he had made that Facebook post something like six months prior, not like a couple days. After six months of the post sitting there the UK cops finally found it and decided to send a whopping six armed police officers to arrest in at an airport while he was waiting for a flight with his wife.
As of writing this the contents of the post have not been published, but the wife, who filmed the entire arrest, says that the post was critical of some UK member of parliament. Not threatening, just critical and mocking.
There is no freedom of speech in the United Kingdom. Indeed, statistics show that the UK makes more arrests every year for something that people have posted online than all other countries combined. More than China, more than Russia, more than Belarus, even more than the second-most-oppressive country in the world in this regard, ie. Germany.
And no, that was no exaggeration. Not "more arrests than any other country", but literally "more arrests that all other countries combined." The UK has surpassed over 12 thousand arrests per year. That's over 30 arrests every single day on average. It has literally become the largest number of arrests of all "crimes".
Meanwhile, the number of arrests for actual crimes like theft, burglary, break-ins, destruction of property and rapes are abysmal.
When your country has become worse than China, Russia and Belarus in this regard, you know things are bad. When six armed cops arrive to arrest you because of an "offensive" post you made six months prior, you know things are bad.
The thing is, other countries could help the citizens of the UK, if they really wanted.
How? By making the UK the absolute laughing stock of the world because of this. Constantly, and I mean constantly, publish on newspapers and show on TV examples of these insane arrests that the UK cops are doing, draw attention to it, criticize it, relentlessly mock it, drag the reputation of the entire country through the mud. Representatives of different countries in the United Nations should constantly bring up the travesty and human rights violations on free speech of the UK. Even if whoever is presiding the proceedings in the UN asks them to not do that, do it anyway (after all, what are they going to do? Kick all the countries out of the UN sessions? Yeah, right.)
Other countries should just bombard the UK with exposes, criticism, insults and relentless mockery, constantly, non-stop, for months and years. Make the UK a complete laughing stock. If representatives of the UK protest, just double down and increase the mockery. Drag their reputation through the mud. Keep doing that until they stop.
Unfortunately for the citizens of the UK, other countries will not be doing that. Which is a real travesty.
