Some American far-leftists have been so indoctrinated and so deeply fear-mongered into being scared of the mythical "far right" that they think is prevalent everywhere in the country, that they have contracted literal delusional paranoia to the extent of being outright life-crippling and self-destructive.
One particularly notable (and hilarious) recent example is a woman, a self-proclaimed "scholar of the far right" (whatever that's supposed to mean), who had become so utterly paranoid about said "far right" that she recently moved to Canada, for the explicitly stated reason to "flee" the "fascist" regime of the United States and the "far right".
And mind you, she lived in Los Angeles, one of the most if not the most far-leftist city in the most far-leftist state of the country. It's not like she lived in some backwater rural town in the Deep South or something.
She made several TikTok videos about her harrowing "escape" from the country, about how nerve-wracking, scary and anxiety-inducing her border crossing was because she was so morbidly afraid that she would be stopped at the border and agents of the fascist government would stop her. I'm not even making that up.
The funny thing is that even from the far-leftist point of view that doesn't make any sense. Even the far-leftists don't think that the government has any interest in a citizen going to Canada. The big thing at this moment is the government kicking illegal aliens out of the country, not keeping citizens from leaving the country. The latter is in no way a current narrative even among the most radical far-left.
This is a very clear case of what has been coined "main character syndrome": She thinks that she is important and visible, and that the government is watching her, personally, everything that she is doing, scrutinizing her, just waiting for the opportunity to jump in, grab her and throw her in jail or something. She is the "main character" of her own delusional world, where everything revolves around her, very much including the watchful eye of the fascist government, who is closely watching her every movement and every action. And, moreover, that for some unexplained reason this "fascist government" does not want her to leave the country. Why? I don't think even she knows.
Of course in actual reality the US government couldn't give a flying fuck about some completely random citizen out of hundreds of millions, who is going to Canada on a temporary 6-month visa. She is being completely delusional and paranoid, the absolutely perfect example of "main character syndrome".
The fun doesn't end there, though. You see, turns out that Canada isn't actually the Socialist paradise that she thought it would be. Turns out that rent is actually higher in Canada than it was in her LA apartment. Turns out that food and overall the cost of living is higher in Canada than in LA.
And, quite ironically, turns out that Canada doesn't just hand free healthcare services to any rando who happens to be in the country on a temporary visa (something that she moans about in her videos.)
So, indeed, Canada wasn't actually the paradise she was envisioning, a Socialist Utopia where everything is handed to her free or at least extremely cheap. Turns out everything is more expensive, she can't get even so much as free healthcare, she has no place to live, and is now begging for Canadians to give her a place to live for free, or at least cheap.
So yes, in her delusional paranoia she left her apartment in one of the most liberal cities in the United States, moved to another country (which turned out to be a much more expensive place), and is now essentially homeless and broke, living off of the last of her quickly vanishing savings.

(By the way, if you are wondering why it's so much more expensive in Canada than in Los Angeles, it's because of the taxes. The United States has ridiculously low taxes compared to other countries. In Canada, the free healthcare system doesn't pay for itself, it's funded by taxpayer money, which means higher taxes, which means higher cost of everything. Something that this far-leftist found out the hard way. By the way, it's the same thing in most of Europe as well. I know, I live in Europe.)
