Some time ago, perhaps 10 to 15 years ago, the police forces in the United Kingdom, for reasons unknown (I have never seen anywhere how or why it started), started becoming a speech police: They started policing people's "wrong" opinions online.
Since then it has only escalated more and more. What started by just a dozen or so incidents per year quickly escalated to several hundreds of arrests per year, to several thousand arrests per year, and there has been no end in sight to this escalation. It has become so bad that, I kid you not, the UK police is making over 30 arrests every day for things that people have said online. That's something like ten thousand arrests per year. And that's just the number of arrests; the number of times that the UK police goes to harass people at their homes, sometimes even in the middle of the night (literally!), is even higher.
They investigate, harass and arrest literally tens of thousands of people every single year, while at the same time the number of arrests for actual crimes (such as theft, burglary, home invasion and rape) is absolutely abysmal. It has become so bad that in many parts of the country literally less than 1% of actual crimes ever get solved and prosecuted.
Some years ago the Home Secretary of the United Kingdom ordered the police forces to stop harassing people for things they say online. The police forces ignored it.
The Home Secretary is not just some random nobody position in the UK government. The Home Secretary is literally the head of the entire police forces of the country. The top boss. The person who all police forces ultimately are accountable to.
More recently the Tory Party, which was the majority party for a time, also ordered the police forces to stop harassing people for things they say online. The police forces ignored it.
On the contrary, not only did they ignore both things, they have only escalated more and more, and are arresting more people than ever.
The cops are ignoring and defying direct orders from the government. Do you know what we call that? Insurrection.
That's right, the police forces in the UK have gone completely rogue. They are ignoring and defying direct orders from the government, and acting on their own. They are literally insurrectionists.
Do you know what the scariest part of this is? The fact that nobody is holding them accountable for it. Even though the government told them not to do it... it's still not doing anything to enforce their own demands. Apparently the cops are free to ignore orders and commit insurrection, and nothing happens to them (which, somewhat ironically, is pretty much exactly the same case as in the United States, although for a slightly different reason.)
And the thing is, apparently nobody knows why the police forces in the United Kingdom are doing this. I have never, not even once, seen, heard or read any explanation of why they are doing this, or who is ordering them to do this, where the orders are coming from. It seems to me that it's all done under the wraps.
Heck, from some videos it's clear that even the cops themselves don't know why they are doing it. They are just commanded to do so, and they have to obey, even though they themselves don't know why they are being ordered to do it.
And the lengths they go in order to harass people is just incredible. There are examples where a cop goes to someone's home at 2:30 in the middle of the night, not because that person has committed any crime, but to tell her to remove a post from the internet.
In any sane world the cops would not go to someone's home at all, and even if they for some reason had to go, they would go there during the day, not in the middle of the night.
A cop arriving at your home literally in the middle of the night, at 2:30 in the morning, and ringing your door bell and issuing demands, is intimidation. It's harassment. Especially when no crime has been committed (even according to the cop himself). It's not something that any civilized government would do. This is not what a civilized police force does; this is something a criminal organization like the Mafia does.
And the scary thing is that, as mentioned, nobody seems to know who exactly is ordering them to do that. Apparently not even the cops themselves. They just receive their orders from higher up the command chain, and that's it.
It's a really weird situation where a county has become a police state and not even the cops themselves know who is pulling the strings. They are just following orders.
My message to police officers in the United Kingdom: You are a complete disgrace. We, people from outside your country, are watching you in complete disgust. What you are doing is abhorrent and disgusting, you are absolute cowards, and you should truly be ashamed of yourselves.
