Do you know how many people were arrested in Russia last year because of social media posts that they had made? About 600.
Do you know how many people were arrested in the United Kingdom last year for the same reason? About 3300.
The United Kingdom has literally become more of a totalitarian police state than even Russia. Let that sink in.
And mind you, the exact same police who arrest people by the thousands every single year for things they have said online are the same who have too few resources to investigate actual crimes. In many parts of the country the number of solved cases of eg. robbery, burglary, home invasion and car theft is absolutely abysmal (in the low single-digit percentage). In fact, if you call the police because your home was robbed, in many parts of the country there's actually a good chance that the police will not even show up at all! They just take the report by phone, and that's it. They never even bother sending any cops. I wish I was making that up.
However, "misgender" someone on social media, and the cops will quickly show up at your door. Because, you know, priorities.
Many have noticed how clearly the amount of governmental controls and restrictions went into overdrive in the UK during the covid pandemic and, particularly, how it has never scaled back since. It appears that the UK government and police forces got a taste of power and control due to the pandemic restrictions, and now don't want to give it up.
The frightening thing for UK citizens is that there's absolutely nothing they can do about it. The police has gone essentially rogue, failing their duties and instead enforcing ridiculous free speech restrictions, they have no accountability for these failures whatsoever, and there's absolutely nothing that the citizens can do about it. The government will not stop it (on the contrary, the government is deliberately running the entire thing), and the citizens can't do anything about it. UK citizens are essentially hostages to this police state. Literally the only thing they can do to save themselves would be to leave the country, which they still can do (and, ironically, most of the establishment would probably even welcome it with a "good riddance!" attitude.)
It's only a matter of time before the UK completely collapses. It might take some time, given how rich and powerful the country still is, but if this continues it will be inevitable.
