A 2023 research paper published in the Nature magazine used neural network AI to try to predict, among other things, people's political affiliation based solely on their facial features.
The results seem to show that while for men there was very little difference in terms of traditional attractiveness, for women there was a quite clear pattern of more traditionally attractive women being more likely to be conservative right-wing, while less attractive women tend to be left-wing.
While the result might be somewhat surprising, it actually makes sense, psychologically.
For the most part the self-esteem and confidence of men is rarely tied to their outwards appearance. While, obviously, traditionally attractive fit muscular men tend to be more confident and have a higher self-esteem, among the more "mundane" looking men there's usually less direct correlation, and even "ugly" men can have a pretty high self-esteem, as they don't care much about their appearance.
Women, however, and in general, are more self-conscious about their own appearance. Traditionally attractive women tend to have more self-esteem and confidence, while less attractive women tend to have lower self-esteem and have more personal insecurities and less confidence.
But what does this have to do with political beliefs and affiliation?
This is because women with low self-esteem and personal insecurities tend to seek validation from others, tend to seek the company of groups that validate them, and modern leftism is the perfect group for that. Modern leftism is an inherently collectivist ideology and essentially a cult that extremely strongly pushes for validating its own members, particularly those who are somehow "disadvantaged" in their view. Victimhood and defects are a form of sainthood in the far-leftist cult. Among many, many other things, uglier people get constant validation, reassurance and adulation.
Traditionally attractive women, however, have a higher self-esteem and confidence, and thus tend to be much more independent and don't feel such a strong need for validation from others. They don't feel the need to try to find some group or society where they get constantly validated.
And political conservatism is more of such an individualistic ideology, where individuality and independence is more valued than "fitting in" the group. Conservative people don't tend to seek validation from others in their group, nor do they tend to constantly try to validate others because they don't feel the need to do so. They are less scared of disagreeing with others and criticizing others.
On top of that, women tend to be more attracted to men who have a high self-esteem and confidence. They like confident strong men, not meek submissive men. And which side of the political spectrum do you think has more of the former, and which has more of the latter? And attractive women tend to have more confidence in their ability to attract strong confident men.
