Imagine a small community, like a small rural community of like 100 people or so, who are very hospitable, amicable and essentially all friends of each other, living in harmony and working together. They may have slightly differing opinions on some things, and different interests and hobbies, and different preferences, but all that's just fine by everybody. They can discuss their different preferences or opinions, analyze the pros and cons, the strengths and weaknesses, and they may even disagree on many things, but by the end of the day they are still friends and understand each other and understand that not everybody is identical, and people have different tastes, preferences and opinions on minor things. As long as everybody lives in peace with each other, and works and collaborates with each other, everything is just mighty fine.
But then there are like a couple of people in this community who have, for example, a rather unusual hobby, something that nobody else in the community really cares about, or even understands the rationale behind it. If these two people just kept to themselves and engaged in that hobby by themselves, without bothering anybody else, everything would once again be just fine, and nobody would be bothered, and everybody would still live in peace and harmony.
But no, these two people become really obnoxious about it. They are not simply content with engaging in this hobby among themselves, but they want the entire community to acknowledge them and give them special status and privileges because of that hobby. They start making demand after demand in the name of that hobby. They want the community to publicly respect that hobby, and to start behaving in a manner that's respectful to that hobby. Maybe they start demanding that the entire community start using vocabulary related to that hobby, or stop using certain vocabulary. They start demanding more and more time and resources from the community so that they can engage in the hobby, and be recognized. They start demanding that the small newspaper publish weekly articles about the hobby (which only the two of them engage in). They are constantly talking about it with everybody, and start complaining and whining if people aren't recognizing their hobby as the greatest thing ever. They are constantly demanding respect. They start demanding that the hobby be taught in the town school to the kids, and make a huge ruckus if the teachers don't comply.
At first the other members of the community try to be understanding and tolerant, and to engage in conversations with these two people. However, as these two keep constantly pestering the rest of the community about it, even when people tell them directly that they aren't interested, and even in inappropriate situations, and when these two people keep demanding more and more respect, more and more visibility, more and more special privileges, more and more resources from the community dedicated to the two of them, the patience of the community starts slowly to erode and wear out.
The situation just starts escalating more and more. The two people don't listen to reason. When others try to tell them that others aren't interested and that they are demanding too much, the two people just get angry and throw hissy fits, and just keep demanding even more. They start to actually convert part of the community to their side, and start to get allies to their cause. A divide happens in the community, and relationships, once amicable, start to erode. People start getting into more and more arguments, and more and more fights about it. The peace and community cohesion is being eroded.
Is it any wonder if large part of the community starts to really dislike and become antagonistic against these two troublemakers? What was once a very peaceful and harmonious community has now become divided and hostile, with people being divided into warring camps, constantly getting into heated arguments with each others, and with former friendships ended. All because of these two troublemakers who couldn't just keep their hobby to themselves, and started demanding too much. The once peaceful community has been destroyed.
Do you have to wonder why people are getting slowly fed up with and tired of all the "LGBT" activism and people, at a larger scale?
