For decades Bioware was one of the largest and most renowned game studios in the world, creating some of the most memorable and lauded game franchises, such as Mass Effect, Baldur's Gate, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, and Dragon Age (before the travesty that was the latest installation, that is.)
Then, at some point during the last ten years, like so many other western game studios, it got invaded and infected by far-leftist activists of the worst kind. The exact kind of people who openly and brazenly mock and insult their very customerbase because they don't like "gamers", and who killed franchise after franchise with their politics. Former employees have also revealed that, like so many other game studios, also Bioward had become an absolute nightmare and hell to work in because of all the far-leftist activists and busybodies who were more interested in enforcing their politics in the workplace and injecting their politics into the games than actually creating good products that people would want to buy.
And what do you know, Bioware has become the latest extraordinarily prominent example of "go woke, go broke", as its parent company, EA, has completely shut the entire studio down, firing over 400 employees.
Obviously EA has not publicly stated the detailed reasons why, but I think it's pretty safe to assume that it was because the studio was a horrendous money sink: Hundreds and hundreds of millions being thrown at the studio, with the games it has been producing in the last ten years bringing back but a small fraction of it.
Former employees and some far-leftist shills are trying to guilt-trip gamers for celebrating this. "Why are you celebrating the demise of a beloved game studio that has produced so many beloved games?"
The reason is: Because the current Bioware was not the same Bioware of 15+ years ago. It had been completely infested and infected with a toxic cancer which had made it an absolutely hellish place to work, and which destroyed beloved franchise after franchise. Gamers see the demise of the game studio as a mercy killing. As a way to stop even further destruction of beloved game franchises. And as a lesson to all other companies about what happens when they embrace far-leftism and allow that cancer to infect them.
That's why.
Unfortunately, not many other game development companies are yet learning from this.
How many companies need to go under before they learn their lesson?
Game companies need to back to being purely meritocratic: Hire the most competent people for their expertise, not because of what they look like. Concentrate on actually making great games, not on identity politics. Make the company a wonderful place for developers to work at, not a far-leftist hellish nightmare. Get rid of all the stupid far-leftist "codes of conduct" and mission statements. To the trash with all of that. Make competent experienced developers who know what they are doing actually want to work for you. Prioritize enjoyable games. Ban politics within the workplace.
That's how you will save the company.
