As I have written before, some time ago Pope Leo XIV condemned the deportation of illegal immigrants from the United States, completely ignoring and disregarding the immigration laws of that country and its right to self-govern and, most importantly and hypocritically, completely ignoring what the Vatican does to people who try to illegally remain within that country.
Indeed, the Vatican is an actual internationally officially recognized sovereign nation, an independent country of its own. Not symbolically, not some kind of "country in name only", but an actual literal officially recognized independent country.
And the Pope is literally the sovereign, the monarch, of that country, officially, both in the national and international sense. Again, not symbolically, not some kind of "head of state in name only", but literally and officially. The Pope is as much the monarch of the Vatican as Charles III is the King of the United Kingdom, or Emmanuel Macron is the President of France.
Recently the Pope has made even more public comments about immigration, open borders and "wealth distribution"... for other countries to implement. Not his own, of course.
I can't even believe how much of a hypocrite he is. It's just astonishing. It's one thing when rich celebrities engage in this kind of "not in my back yard" virtue signaling. It's an entire different level of hypocrisy when the sovereign of a country does the same thing. "Open borders for thee, but not for me."
Because the Pope is not going to open the borders of the Vatican any time soon. Sure, anybody can visit the country, but when the clock hits 8 PM, you are out. And if you misbehave while in the country, the Swiss Guard is free to kick you out and ban you from ever entering again.
And try to vandalize any property inside the Vatican (like illegal immigrants love to do in other countries) and see how fast they kick you out of the country. The borders will be so closed to you that even North Korea would be envious.
For all the Pope is concerned, you can enter and stay in Italy illegally and he's going to give you a thumbs up... but not in the Vatican itself. Not in the Pope's back yard.
The hypocrisy of that man is out of this world.
