IBM fined 17 million for racial discrimination, but it won't change anything

As I have written before, the amount of racial discrimination in large American tech companies is just astonishing. According to recent statistics that examined the top 500 tech companies in the United States, only 6% of all new hires were white people, even though they account for over 80% of the population.

That's an absolutely egregious amount of discrimination based only and solely on people's race. It's precisely the kind of racial discrimination that's highly illegal even in the United States.

Several leaks from IBM have showed that company being particularly egregious about this, as they engage in blatant and direct racial discrimination in hiring. Leaks have shown that the company withholds bonuses from executives who fail to meet race-based hiring quotas, and even fires people who refuse to discriminate in hiring based on race.

There have also been other leaks about discriminatory practice and "DEI" indoctrination within the company. 

Because of these leaks, America First Legal filed a lawsuit against IBM for racial discrimination.

Recently the Department of Justice fined IBM 17 million dollars because of these discriminatory policies. A sum that IBM has agreed to pay.

But the thing is... of course IBM agreed to pay. That's because for a giant megacorporation like IBM 17 million USD is literally pocket money. They probably spend that much every single day on trivialities. To them that's nothing. It's a drop in a bucket. Heck, it's a drop in an olympic swimming pool. Their revenue stream probably doesn't even notice such a microscopic extra payment. 

Which, of course, means that IBM will not be deterred from continuing their racial discrimination. They will just keep doing it. And if they get sued again and convicted something like five years from now, they'll just pay the microscopic fine and that's it.

The only way this can stop is if the people responsible are put in jail. But the DoJ will not do that.
