There is this very strange and pervasive notion among far-leftist activists that gamers just hate female playable characters in video games, that they don't want women protagonists in their games and, particularly, they don't want to play them.
Take these posts by a far-leftist bigot, who is actually working for the game developer studio The Initiative:
"If adding female protagonists to video games is all it takes to make the worst people you've ever met not want to play them, we should add female protagonists to every game."
Yet, what happens when a game like Stellar Blade is published, which has a very female protagonist and playable character? Enormous success.
What happens when the PlayStation exclusivity deal ends and it's published for PC on Steam? It becomes the fastest-selling game published by Sony on that platform ever, with sales numbers and player counts that dwarf many recent (and more infamous) western triple-A titles.
And how do the leftist activist journalists react to this enormous success? By throwing hissy fits, of course. What did you think? They try to smear the game and the people who play them in their stupid articles. They really don't like when gamers like a game with a very female protagonist in it.
So... which is it? Gamers hate female protagonists in video games, or gamers love female protagonists in video games? Which one is it? It can't be both.
Given that these leftist journalists and activists hate both positions, and thus believe in both at the same time, it's yet another perfect example of leftist doublethink.
And, by the way, to all video game journalists out there: Your era is over. You live in a delusion. You live in the delusion that your petty articles and opinion pieces have any relevance and any significance when it comes to video game purchasing decisions and opinions by gamers.
News flash: They don't. Nobody cares about video game journalism anymore. Video game journalism is dead. It died over a decade ago. Nobody cares what you have to write. Particularly gamers don't care.
Go away gracefully. Stop throwing hissy fits and pretending like what you write still matters. Just go away. Nobody cares.
