Why do far-leftists want to decriminalize crimes?

Among all the craziness of the far left that has been happening over the past ten years, one of the strangest is the phenomenon, which has been happening especially in some parts of the United States, of stopping arresting and prosecution of many crimes, directly as part of the leftist political agenda. Not just as in "we don't have the resources, and we need to concentrate the resources on these more important things". Not even as in "we have to defund the police and thus we can't afford to prosecute these crimes". Just a direct and blatant "these crimes will not be prosecuted, and the perpetrators will not be arrested", completely independently of any "defunding or reforming the police".

And we are not talking about some bizarre obscure crimes that have somehow got into criminal law a hundred years ago that have been completely obsolete for decades. We aren't even talking about really small misdemeanors like "loitering" or "disturbing the peace" or "jaywalking". We are talking about pretty serious crimes, like burglary, theft, breakins into private homes, and so on. (Yes, there are several cities in the United States where the mayors and prosecutors have directly stated that they will not prosecute such crimes.)

In some other very leftist countries, like the United Kingdom, many such crimes have been de facto decriminalized, in that the police will almost never even investigate them. Indeed, the vast, vast majority of burglaries of homes and cars, for instance, are not even investigated in that country. They don't even send any police officers to take statements from the victims or anything. You can report the crime all you want, but the police won't even show up. And they are not showing up on purpose. I'm not even kidding. (And no, it's not that they don't have the resources. The exact same police investigates literally thousands of cases of people saying mean things online, sending police officers to the homes of such people to harass them and sometimes even to take them to jail. Again, I'm not kidding.)

I can't understand the justification for this, not even from a far-leftist perspective. Even if for a moment I put myself in the mindset of a full-on far-leftist, I still can't think of a justification. What possible reason could they have for this?

Of course the core reason is to destabilize society. However, most politicians and law enforcement officials are not thinking of that reason when they justify this. They do not do it because they want to "destabilize society". They have been convinced to do so, but I can't even begin to imagine how, or what their justification for it is.

(And even if a few of them do directly and explicitly think that this is a means to the end of destabilizing society, surely they cannot state that out loud. They have to have a public justification for it, that they have to state publicly. But I can't even begin to imagine what it is.)
