It's astonishing to witness the raise of systemic racism in modern society

One would think that western society has become more enlightened during the past century when it comes to things like racism. The vast majority of racist attitudes that were common in western countries in the earlier decades of the 1900's have been diminishing by the decade, and with it is gone racist segregation, racist laws and, overall, normalized systemic racism.

("Systemic racism" means that discrimination based on race is entrenched in law and is commonly accepted and upheld both in governments and the population in general, and seen by large as normal, acceptable and desirable, and is widely adopted and enforced, by governments, by institutions, by corporations, by schools and by individual people. In other words, it's part of the prevailing culture and the prevailing norms, legal and cultural.)

The western world has been pretty much free of actual systemic racism since about the 1970's and 1980's forward. In most countries segregation and discrimination based on race has been explicitly and unambiguously illegal since at least the 1960's or earlier, and attitudes towards racism have shifted quite significantly, and racist sentiments have not been publicly broadcast eg. on mainstream media for like half a century.

Thus, it's astonishing to see how in just the last 10 or so years systemic racism is once again gaining ground and popularity at an astonishing speed. The skin color of the targets of the racism may be different, but it's the exact same bullshit all over again. The parallels are striking, just with skin colors changed a bit.

A hundred years ago in many western countries it was completely normal and prevalent to discriminate against black people eg. in hiring. Today, in many western countries, it has become completely normal and prevalent to discriminate against white people eg. in hiring.

A hundred years ago, in many places, it was completely normalized to say the most horrible prejudiced discriminatory insulting things about black people, and to speak about them as if they were some kind of separate lower social class to be treated differently and granted less rights than the superior races. Today the exact same thing is happening once again, where saying the most horrible prejudiced discriminatory things about white people has become completely normalized, and white people treated like they were some kind of second-class citizens with less rights than the superior races.

Today you can see press reporters commenting on live television about the "problem" of some national football team being "too white", as if saying such a thing is completely normal and to be expected. Today you can see talk hosts in live debates express how glad they are that no white person is present, as if saying such a thing is completely normal and desirable. Today you can see other talk hosts telling their (white-majority) audience how white people will become a minority in the country by year such-and-such, and the (white-majority) audience erupting in cheers and applause like it were the best news they have heard in a long time. Not just as a form of parody or comedy. Genuine cheers and applause. Today you can see politicians openly saying the same thing, and how it's a good thing, and something they are looking forward, as if getting rid of white people were extremely important.

Today you can find company after company, especially the biggest and most powerful ones, discriminating against white people in hiring and in promotions. Many universities, especially in the United States, openly discriminate against white and Asian people in admissions. Many scholarship institutions openly and blatantly discriminate against white people in who they give their grants to, many refusing to give any grants to any white people whatsoever.

Today you can see university professors, academics, politicians, scholars and other influential people directly and blatantly talking about white people like they were some kind of scourge, like white people were some kind of inferior evil sub-species, separate from the superior races. Not dissimilar to how, for example, Nazi propagandists and politicians spoke about Jews, or how black people were viewed by many in the 1800's and even in the early 1900's.

They get to express these racist views with complete impunity. A good majority of society either agrees or just accepts it silently, without raising any objections. A good majority of white people have been psychologically beaten into submission and have become subservient to and accepting of the systemic racism, even when they are directly disparaged and discriminated against. Many have even joined the racists and become racists against other white people, a bit like some Jews joined the Nazis and helped them capture more Jews, or how some black slaves became so subservient to their white masters that they actually started acting like "sub-masters" towards their fellow black slaves, ordering them around, beating them and punishing them if they got out of line.

And all this just in the span of the last 10 to 15 years or so. Western society has incredibly rapidly transformed from a relatively normal peaceful prosperous free equal society into a systemically racist shithole, which is becoming worse and worse by the month.

It's amazing to witness this transformation, this raise of systemic racism, first-hand. Amazing and terrifying. How is it even possible that people get so easily dissuaded into racism and pure evil?
